Chapter 212: A House Full of Laughter
Chapter 212: A House Full of Laughter
Adrian grinned, loving the reaction. He leaned in close, his voice dripping with mischief.
"I’ll let you in on a secret, Matteo. Back in our university days, you could ask Frank and Charles, I used to have a massive line of girls crushing on me. They all wanted me."
Matteo gripped Adrian’s waist a little tighter, his voice dropping into a dark, possessive growl. "Well, you’re mine now. And you’re mine forever."
Sensing the perfect opportunity to tease, Adrian slowly wriggled out of Matteo’s embrace and stood up, stepping backward toward the open space of the living room. "Hmm, no, I’m not yours," Adrian countered, a wicked sparkle in his eyes. "Not until you put a ring on my finger. Who knows? I might still find a beautiful lady who catches my eye."
Matteo rose from the sofa, his eyes narrowing playfully. "What did you just say?"
Adrian didn’t answer. Instead, he stuck his tongue out playfully, took advantage of the distance between them, and bolted toward the staircase.
"Wait, repeat that!" Matteo yelled, a genuine laugh breaking through his voice as he instantly gave chase.
Adrian paused at the base of the stairs, turning around just long enough to stick his tongue out at Matteo again.
"I’m going to go find a beautiful woman!" he shouted, giggling before spinning around and racing upstairs as fast as his legs could carry him.
"Get back here!" Matteo laughed, his long strides easily closing the gap as he bounded up the stairs after his laughing partner.
The dark shadows of his withdrawal, the cravings, the exhaustion, and the restless anxiety all seemed to disappear beneath the warmth of Adrian’s laughter.
For that moment, nothing else mattered.
With a grin, Matteo took off after him, his laughter echoing through the house as the chase continued upstairs.
Adrian darted into the master bedroom, slipping behind the heavy oak door in a desperate attempt to hide and catch his breath.
But the second Matteo stepped into the room and their eyes met, Adrian knew he had been caught.
He let out a dramatic shriek and immediately pointed an accusing finger at him.
"Ahhh! Go away! Leave me alone!"
"Not a chance," Matteo laughed, stalking toward him.
Adrian tried to dart past him, but his foot slipped on the polished hardwood floor.
A startled yelp escaped him as his balance gave way.
Before he could hit the ground, Matteo’s arm shot out and wrapped securely around his waist, catching him with ease and lifting him completely off his feet.
"Got you," Matteo said triumphantly, pulling him against his chest.
Adrian immediately squirmed in his grip.
"Put me down! This is kidnapping!"
Matteo barked out a laugh. "Kidnapping? Baby, we’re in our own bedroom."
"I don’t care!" Adrian protested, kicking his legs dramatically in the air. "I was winning the race and you cheated."
"You slipped," Matteo said.
"Put me down!" Adrian shouted, kicking his legs, though his fierce tone was entirely ruined by his breathless giggling.
Matteo carried him over to the mattress and tossed him onto the soft blankets before immediately climbing on top of him, pinning him beneath his weight.
He leaned in close, their faces only inches apart.
"Repeat what you just said."
Adrian immediately turned his head away, crossing his arms and slipping into a dramatic sulk.
"No."
Without another word, Matteo dug his fingers into Adrian’s ribs, tickling him mercilessly.
"Repeat it," he demanded as Adrian’s indignant protest dissolved into breathless laughter.
"Matteo! Stop!" Adrian shrieked, squirming wildly beneath him.
"Not until you say it."
Adrian fought back as long as he could, twisting and laughing so hard that tears gathered in the corners of his eyes.
Finally, completely breathless and defeated, he slapped weakly at Matteo’s shoulders.
"Alright! Alright! Stop!" he gasped between laughs. "I’ll talk! I’ll talk!"
Matteo immediately ceased the torture, but he didn’t move an inch. He stayed right where he was, hovering over Adrian with a thoroughly amused smirk.
"Alright," he said. "Start talking."
Adrian lay there for a moment, panting as he tried to catch his breath.
Then he narrowed his eyes.
"I forgot."
Matteo stared at him.
Adrian’s lips twitched.
For a split second, neither of them moved.
Then Matteo lunged.
"AHHH! NO!" Adrian shrieked, dissolving into laughter as Matteo attacked his ribs all over again.
Adrian caught his breath, his playful defiance softening into something deep and genuine as he looked up into Matteo’s eyes.
He reached up and cupped Matteo’s jaw with both hands.
"The only man I love is you, Matteo. I don’t need anyone else. No one could ever be as perfect for me or make me as happy as you do."
Matteo’s smirk melted into a tender smile.
"I love you so much, Adrian."
"I love you more," Adrian murmured.
He slipped a hand into Matteo’s hair and pulled him down into a deep, lingering kiss.
For a long moment, neither of them cared about anything else.
When they finally pulled apart, Matteo rested his forehead against Adrian’s chest, their breaths mingling between them.
Neither spoke for several seconds, content to simply enjoy the closeness.
Eventually, Adrian brushed a thumb across Matteo’s cheek.
"So," he murmured softly, "what’s on our schedule for today?" With that, the conversation gradually shifted to their plans for the day.
"Later today, I’m taking you to the hospital," Matteo murmured. "I just want the doctors to check everything again. It’ll help me sleep better knowing you’re recovering well and that your eyes are completely fine."
Adrian grinned, leaning into the touch. "Okay, Daddy."
Matteo chuckled. "After the doctor confirms you’re clear, I’m bringing you straight back home to rest."
Adrian rolled his eyes dramatically. "You say that like I’m some fragile patient."
"You are." Matteo teased.
"I’m not."
"You absolutely are."
Adrian murmured, "I’m perfectly healthy."
Matteo smiled and brushed a strand of hair away from his face. "I know, baby. I just want to be sure."
"Fine." Adrian’s expression softened. "What about tomorrow?" he asked curiously.
"Tomorrow, I have to go into the office in the morning," Matteo said.
"I’ll go to my studio then. I haven’t been there much lately," Adrian murmured.
Matteo nodded approvingly.
"Once I finish my meetings, I’ll be meeting up with a friend. As soon as you’re done at the studio, your men will bring you directly to my location. We’ll head out from there."
A smile immediately spread across Adrian’s face. "Your men?" he repeated, clearly amused.
Matteo raised an eyebrow. "Yes. Your bodyguards."
Adrian’s smile widened. "I like the sound of that."
"The sound of what?" Matteo asked.
"My men," Adrian said proudly. "I finally have my own men."
Matteo laughed. "They’re security guards, baby. Remember, they’re not as good-looking as me."
"I don’t care," Adrian replied with a grin. "It sounds important. My men. I love it."
Matteo shook his head in amusement.
"You’ve become spoiled."
"I learned from the best."
Matteo pulled him closer and kissed the top of his head. "Brat."
"That’s perfect," Adrian smiled.
Matteo leaned down to kiss him again, but Adrian pressed a hand against his chest, a sudden thought popping into his head. "Oh, that reminds me."
"What?" Matteo asked.
Adrian cleared his throat...
