Chapter 313 - 45: Heart Thought
Chapter 313 - 45: Heart Thought
"So, there’s one more," Wei Wusheng said. With a CRACK, he crushed the stone in his hand, turned to face forward, and stared at the approaching figure.
Chen Chuan walked over slowly. The ground was now covered in a shallow layer of water, and each of his steps made a distinct splash. Behind him, all the other Fighters now lay on the ground, defeated in a matter of moments.
He came to a stop before Wei Wusheng, standing on the very spot where the two previous men had fought. The overhead light, once intended for those two Fighters, now shone down on both of them.
He looked at Wei Wusheng and said, "I have a question. Did you come here just to kill people, or rather, to hunt Fighters?"
Wei Wusheng looked at him for a moment. "It seems you still don’t understand." He gestured to the two lying on the ground. "They understood perfectly well. But I don’t mind explaining it to you.
This is a necessary step. After I established my Heart Thought, I had to perform an action to satisfy it."
He pointed to his own heart.
"It told me that once I made my decision, I needed to revel in an all-out battle. I needed to slaughter enough Fighters, no matter the method, no matter their identity or where they appeared. In short, just kill them. As long as I can do that, it will give me a sufficient reward.
Originally, I thought the people present here might not be enough, but your appearance is quite a bonus. With you added to the mix, it might just be satisfied."
Chen Chuan looked at him and said, "And if it’s still not satisfied after this?"
Wei Wusheng said without hesitation, "Then I’ll just keep killing. This cruise ship is huge. I’m sure I can find enough targets to satisfy it."
Chen Chuan said no more. He raised the Snow Monarch Blade, holding it horizontally before him. With his other hand, he took hold of the Sword Scabbard and, with a light flick, sent it flying away.
Then, he turned his body slightly, gripped the blade with both hands, and slowly raised it to one side. He looked at the man and said, "What are you waiting for?"
Wei Wusheng let out a great roar, "Come!" and charged straight at him.
Chen Chuan fixed his gaze on the charging figure, spun his body, and brought his blade down in an overhead slash!
Wei Wusheng swung his hammer aside, its head striking the blade with great precision. However, there was little force behind the blade. Chen Chuan retreated a step, twisted his wrist, and performed an upward diagonal slash.
But Wei Wusheng ignored this, bringing his hammer down toward Chen Chuan’s head. Chen Chuan leaned slightly, letting the hammer crash onto his shoulder with a BANG. The force of the blow should have been enough to shatter his entire shoulder, yet he seemed completely unharmed.
Wei Wusheng’s eyes narrowed, a hint of surprise in them.
At that moment, Chen Chuan saw his Second Self flicker as the greater part of his body turned incorporeal. He didn’t miss the opportunity. With a surge of strength, he drove his blade directly into Wei Wusheng’s side. Based on past experience, a slash like this, even if it couldn’t cut an opponent in two, should have at least plunged deep into the torso and inflicted a grievous wound.
But this time, it only went in a short way before he felt it being clamped down by some force, unable to penetrate any deeper.
Just then, Wei Wusheng once again raised his hammer high, gripping the handle with both hands. The two men were of similar height, but in that instant, his shadow seemed to completely engulf Chen Chuan.
Chen Chuan felt an intense wave of danger. But instead of retreating, he charged forward, his five fingers like a blade, and stabbed at the throat that Wei Wusheng had exposed by straightening up.
However, the strike felt like stabbing a steel wall. The Power that was meant to break his balance vanished without a trace, and Wei Wusheng’s body didn’t move an inch.
Wei Wusheng then swung his arms down violently, as if smashing a pile driver. The hammer came crashing straight down on him!
This strike was called Earth-Throwing Force. The instant before he unleashed it, the tough Mutated Organization throughout his body tensed, leaving him with almost no openings. No matter what was in front of him, no matter what it was, a single blow could smash it down and shatter it against the ground.
But at this moment, Chen Chuan raised his hands, crossed them above his head, and met the hammer.
In the process, he didn’t rely entirely on his Second Self. Instead, he instinctively used the Dissipating Force technique he had learned before. Although he had learned it with a blade, the principle was the same.
BANG! An immense force struck, pressing him down. Power seeped through him in waves, and the ground beneath his feet groaned under the strain, fine cracks appearing and spreading out to either side.
And yet, he held his ground.
"What?"
Most of the Power in Wei Wusheng’s body had been unleashed, leaving him momentarily rigid. At that instant, Chen Chuan raised a knee and kicked upward, striking him squarely on the chin and snapping his head back.
Seizing the opportunity, Chen Chuan stepped back, grabbed the hilt of his blade, and dragged it downward. A spray of blood immediately erupted. He paused for a fraction of a second, gripped the blade with both hands, and then thrust it forward violently, plunging it into Wei Wusheng’s chest with a SQUELCH.
But it only pierced halfway before Wei Wusheng recovered. The tip of the blade immediately met with immense resistance, unable to push any deeper.
Wei Wusheng twisted his body, retreating in a flash. He raised his hammer and knocked the blade away. As he stumbled back several steps, his wounds squirmed rapidly and sealed themselves shut.
Chen Chuan gripped the hilt with both hands and slowly lowered the blade to his side, its tip angled toward his opponent. Wei Wusheng stared at Chen Chuan, also spreading his feet slightly and setting his hammer aside.
But just then, a series of mechanical clicks echoed from behind them. The door behind them slowly opened, and teams of security personnel rushed in.
Wei Wusheng frowned and gave Chen Chuan one last, deep look. He spun around and charged out. The security personnel immediately raised their guns and opened fire on him.
The arena was instantly filled with the rapid sound of gunfire. But Wei Wusheng wasn’t wearing any Protective Clothing, and the bullets that hit him merely embedded themselves in his muscles. Not a single one penetrated his body.
Chen Chuan hadn’t used the Furnace Breathing Method just now. This was because he was on someone else’s cruise ship, and he didn’t know what the situation was outside. He needed to keep an ace up his sleeve, not expend all his energy here.
But...
He reached to his waist, drew the Thunder Shock Spear, aimed it at Wei Wusheng’s back, and pulled the trigger. With a BOOM, the entire fighting arena shook.
A fist-sized hole immediately blew open on Wei Wusheng’s back, flesh and skin curling outward, faintly revealing the bone within. His body shuddered, but he didn’t stop. His running speed didn’t even change. He plowed through the security guards, broke through their line, and soon, the sounds of a fierce clash echoed from outside.
A moment later, the distant sound of a splash could be heard.
Inside, the security guards kept their guns trained on Chen Chuan until footsteps approached from outside. Senior Brother Sun walked in. He took in the scene, saw Chen Chuan standing there, and immediately said to his men, "He’s one of us. Lower your weapons." All the guards lowered their guns and stood down.
Medical personnel rushed in from outside and began examining and treating the people lying all over the floor. Before long, someone came to report to Senior Brother Sun that the two Third Limit Fighters were still alive.
Senior Brother Sun felt a wave of relief.
’That’s good.’
This arranged match was both a contest between two Schools and a test to verify their own improvements and shortcomings. Death during the match would have been an acceptable outcome for either side.
But if they had died due to unforeseen circumstances, although Canglong Company wasn’t afraid of such trouble, he, as the person in charge, would most likely be made the scapegoat. His own future might even be ruined.
He straightened his clothes, walked up to Chen Chuan, and said, "Junior Chen, it seems you were the one who stopped Wei Wusheng. I believe you were the only one here who could have done it."
He had previously looked into this junior of his and knew that he’d been scouted by the Processing Bureau. He also knew that Chen had once taken down a Third Limit master while under the influence of some drug.
’It seems that today, my junior probably relied on drugs again to maintain his sanity and stop Wei Wusheng.’
Wei Wusheng was no ordinary Third Limit master. His Vajra Cross Training Strength, combined with the unique Recovery Power of the Third Limit, had made him practically synonymous with "indestructible" within the Celestial Forgiveness Gang.
Chen Chuan said, "It was also because you all arrived in time."
Senior Brother Sun smiled and said sincerely, "Junior Chen, you really did me a huge favor this time. I know what kind of price one pays to deal with a Third Limit Fighter. I won’t let you do it for nothing. I will give you compensation that you’ll find satisfactory."
「On the coast.」
Wei Wusheng walked out of the water. Wisps of white steam rose from his clothes as they were slowly steamed dry. As he walked ashore, the hole in his back was slowly closing up. The blade wounds on his chest and side were also gradually healing. One by one, the bullets lodged in his body were squeezed out of his muscles and fell to the ground.
Suddenly, a voice spoke in his mind: "Senior Brother, you didn’t satisfy it." It seemed to be an illusion, a phantom voice, yet he had definitely heard it.
Wei Wusheng said in a low voice, "I will."
After the *True Treasure* docked, he had gone to meet Xiong Jianyi as promised. The latter had given him half of his heart. By combining the two hearts, they could complete a Master’s Secret Technique.
Once successful, the Mutated Organization that Xiong Jianyi possessed would grow within Wei Wusheng’s body. The Grasping and Soft Strength that Xiong Jianyi had mastered would also become his. In essence, one person would possess the strengths of two, combining both hard and soft styles into one.
And only by fulfilling the "Heart Thought" could Wei Wusheng completely absorb everything Xiong Jianyi had entrusted to him, reshape his own foundation, and earn the right to break through to an even higher Upper Layer.
He glanced at the cruise ship behind him and said in a low voice, "I will kill more Fighters to satisfy it. And I’ll hunt down and kill every single one of the Fighters I saw today."
The voice gradually faded, as if it had never been there at all.
Wei Wusheng gave the cruise ship behind him one last look, then strode toward Central City, leaving a trail of deep footprints in the sand.
