Chapter 1791 - 1790 - A Strange Bandit Group
Chapter 1791 - 1790 - A Strange Bandit Group
Viera was watching her best friend smiling as she fought to the death against a dragon Divine Lord. Even if Luxor got lucky, the power of the being in front of her was legendary.
He had single handedly at times held the Divine Lands from the edge of extinction. Many preparations, weapons, and even just plain direct combat has saved them all. No one would claim he was weak at all.
Further, his grasp of the Divine Realm as a whole was shocking. Even after a single meeting, she had felt his power quietly exerting itself. He did not boast nor force it on anyone.
He was power incarnate.
Only one other person in her life felt like that, Luxor.
She craved battle but she did not go after the weak. She sought challenges and found the greatest challenge ever.
Creating a benevolent bandit group. They were a very strange group to start with anyway.
A pair of jian that merged into a single entity when they became Immortals, a snow dragon that found his isolation intolerable, and a Steelbeak Hawk that had been abandoned by her family.
She only vaguely remembered the hunters breaking her wing with an arrow or maybe an Art that made one. Regardless, she was falling from the sky and none of her siblings, parents, or other family bothered to try and save her.
Some of them were mighty Sky Reams at the time. They could have saved her! That memory stood out still.
One other did too from that time. The humans were laughing and saying things she could not understand literally, yet she knew her life was about to end horribly.
A knife reflected the midday sun when a giant shadow appeared. It was an enormous beast and the humans were so many straw figures in front of it!
Viera tried to stand up. Her wing would not support her for flight but she refused to die on her back! She was nothing to the beast as its massive maw, dripping blood came down to her level.
Rather than snap the jaws around her, the bear gently used her claws to pick her up and put Viera on her head!
The shock made her lose focus and that was the last distinct memory from back then.
It was only when she reached the World Realm that more memories became clear. Luxor was strong and respected Viera’s last stance. Yet, Viera was too small for a meal after the humans!
Centuries later, Luxor had a rather rude way to greet her whenever they met up again.
[You need more meat on those bones if you are to feed me!]
When Luxor became a Heaven Realm, they picked up the 2 jian. They were not being hunted but they were stuck. Viera accused Luxor being soft on birds, but the bear just laughed and shrugged it off.
Their last companion came just as Luxor became an Immortal. The snow dragon, with no name at the time, was found wandering and also at the peak of the Sliver Tier. Luxor challenged him to a fight of course.
The dragon man was thrashed badly. His arrogance was brought low and he swore to follow Luxor from then on.
He regretted that immediately as Luxor named him Dagon. They all tried to tell her it was not a good name for anyone let alone a dragon but she refused to listen.
Their group then began to wander the Eastern Continent for a time and Luxor found a purpose when they saw a caravan of slaves. Luxor laughed as she struck where a guard force of Immortals awaited.
They were nearly killed but Luxor always seemed to have a bottomless well of power. Despite being a fresh Immortal, she seemed to have the power of a Shard Tier.
It was a small beginning to their legend for the next few million years.
Then Luxor became very tired. She had to sleep and they had to leave her alone as her power was too much for them to handle. They would be put in nightmares they might never escape from.
None of them knew that the hibernation would last for almost 500 thousand years!
When Luxor awoke, she was hungry for more battle and her power had skyrocketed! Viera smiled as their notoriety began to rise but it would be nearly when the Fiend War threatened them all that their bandit group would change.
Luxor stopped seeking battle and did everything in her power to save the lower realm beings. The Blessed Crimson Range was too far for many to make it so Luxor carved out places far away from the war.
Lind Frey, by drawing so much attention, actually was a huge help. While he fought the war on the main stage, Luxor and others like her, worked to keep the regular beasts and other people safe.
Their names were not remembered as widely but Luxor had changed after the war ended. She had been stuck at the Journeyman Tier for so long yet something clicked and she reached the Master Tier.
She helped the rest of them and they all followed, even knowing they would likely give up any chances for reaching the peak afterward.
Viera remembered that Luxor seemed to lose her heart after that. The war was over and they were able to reclaim the lost Valley Shadows her race memory called about.
It had been lost to ice for billions of years in the Northern Continent until then.
After relocating several races there, Luxor seemed to stop wanting to find more trouble. Viera was concerned but Xuye and Dagon simply did their own thing. Dagon had technically come home and checked with his clan.
It was only when the strange emanations began that all 3 came back quickly. Luxor was in pain, she knew it, but could not get close! Luxor was far more powerful than them.
Viera knew, though, that something had been wrong for a long time. Luxor was never afraid, yet she kept fighting her hibernation cycle. When she came out of the latest one, her enthusiasm seemed completely lacking and she even felt barely there at first.
[Just barely in time.] The words came back as she saw Lind remove one of Luxor’s limbs with his tail and send her slamming into the ground.
She could just barely keep up with the fight but then something shocking happened.
Luxor could no longer escape!
What had Lind Frey done?!
She then felt a chill up her spine as all her instincts screamed at her to run! The pair became more bestial yet retained humanoid shapes. The strange hybrid used their tail to snatch her up and began to run.
Why was a World Realm so strong?!
Viera could free herself but she understood Ryl was harmless. Further, they only seemed to want to cheer her up. A mighty clash like thunder came from behind them but the dust cloud that should have risen seemed to disperse flatly.
The unnatural movement told Viera some kind of distortion field was in place but it was not a formation! Lind and Luxor had been manipulating time!
Her own Sky Layer touched on that aspect.
{The Sky Flows over all Time} That facet lets Viera sense the world all at once if she puts it into practice.
Now, she was horrified at the power of the two fighters as they clasped each other’s fists. A test of pure strength seemed imminent but then an emerald tail whipped towards Luxor’s legs!
Viera’s heart jumped into her throat only to see the air vibrate violently when Luxor roared!
She was finally using her Bloodline Layer! Luxor had condensed a Mystery purely from her bloodline. It was actually not uncommon for beasts but it was a short cut. It meant Luxor had realized she would never reach the next major realm long ago.
Tears formed as the billions of years they had net to enjoy were never to be. Luxor was fighting like she used to. She was happily using her roar to make a shield of vibration as she went all out.
The distraction, however, allowed Lind to transform his legs into hindquarters that could strike forward with far more power!
Luxor sneered as her own leg bulged and the snap of bone followed, yet it was double!
The pair had broken both their legs! Lind Frey seemed to come out on top but Luxor was hardly bothered by pain. The crimson color added to her smile only made her more beautiful in Viera’s eyes.
The tears were quickly wiped away as they reached a safe distance. This was the final fight of her best friend and the person that gave her the best life over the last 5 billion years!
She would not look away nor stop her. As if hearing her thoughts, Luxor laughed. The moment seemed to catch Lind off guard and Luxor dropped to all fours before launching nearly beyond any speed that could be perceived with the naked eye.
Lind tried to dodge but was only partially successful. His tail was ripped in two as well as losing a foot! He flipped to his hands and his good leg swung down to slam into Luxor’s back.
She barely rolled away in time. The shockwave of the strike still caught her and made her slam into whatever barrier Lind had created. She was nearly thrown into the air for some reason!
Viera felt blood trickle from her clenched fists. She would not look away. She would not! Until the very end, she would be watching!
