Chapter 1643 - 1648: Seeking Crane Mountain
Chapter 1643 - 1648: Seeking Crane Mountain
Not only that, Crane Mountain has no bottom line in how he does things, you could even say he acts recklessly, never considering anything else; basically whatever comes to mind, he does it. A person like that has no rules in doing things, so the chances of making mistakes are even greater.
Lin Fei thought for a moment and nodded. "At a time like this, when the Lower Realm is in danger, I think Crane Mountain should know what’s more important. Besides, Crane Mountain should have already reflected on himself. After all, so much time has passed, and he’s been devoted to cultivation. That shows he already has the intention to repent. We should give him a chance."
"Very well."
Hearing Lin Fei give so many reasons, Leng Daoqiu felt they made a lot of sense. After all, if Crane Mountain truly understood repentance, then without a doubt the Lower Realm would have gained a powerful helper; and if he did not know how to repent, at worst they could just beat him back to his original form.
However, if he really didn’t know how to repent, it might not be as simple as just beating him back to his original form.
"Then please tell me where he is, Senior Brother."
Leng Daoqiu nodded. "He’s at Crane Beak Mountain, to the south of Mo Country, near He City."
"Thank you, Senior Brother. I’ll go look for him right away." Lin Fei cupped his fists to Leng Daoqiu as he finished speaking, then shot straight into the sky and vanished right before Leng Daoqiu’s eyes.
"Uh... this guy!" Leng Daoqiu shook his head and sighed. Lin Fei was really too impatient.
Just then, a woman’s voice came from behind him. "What’s the matter, husband?"
Leng Daoqiu turned his head and saw it was Yan Qiubo, carrying a tray of tea and walking over. After she set the tea tray down, Leng Daoqiu reached out and gently wrapped an arm around Yan Qiubo’s slender waist, then said, "That guy Lin Fei is too impatient. I was going to give him a map, but I didn’t expect him to just leave."
"Hehe, then husband doesn’t need to worry about him. He’ll find a way on his own." Yan Qiubo said, then lightly leaned against Leng Daoqiu’s chest.
Lin Fei had long known someone was behind that wall, but he also knew the other party didn’t want to meet him. Since that was the case, then they simply wouldn’t meet. Besides, life is a long road—he couldn’t stay in one place for a single person. What’s more, everyone has their own path to walk, so why force anyone to cling to another?
Flying all the way, Lin Fei arrived at He City.
Lin Fei had heard of He City before. It was Crane Mountain’s hometown and also where he was born. Only, after several hundred years of change, this place had become sparsely populated. He City grew older and older, as if it might disappear into the long river of history at any time.
"Resources are scarce here, no wonder it’s so desolate." Seeing the scene in He City, Lin Fei felt there really weren’t many resources. Other than forest trees, and even those had been almost completely cut down.
By this time, Lin Fei had already descended to the ground, walking along the edge of the mountains. He needed to ask where exactly Crane Beak Mountain was.
Up ahead, there was a group of workers carrying logging tools, walking out of the mountains, cursing as they went. "What the hell, it’s not even his mountain—why’s he sticking his nose into other people’s business?"
"Exactly. Wailing like ghosts in the middle of the night every day, yet still so energetic in the daytime. I say there’s something wrong with that guy!" one of the loggers said.
"He was never normal to begin with. Hair all over the place, no different from a wild man," another logger said.
From far away, Lin Fei heard their conversation and felt what they were talking about was worth paying attention to. He walked up and asked, "Brothers, could you tell me where Crane Beak Mountain is?"
Hearing Lin Fei’s question, the group turned to look at him, sweeping their eyes over him. "You’re not a local, are you? What are you doing here?"
Lin Fei smiled. His accent couldn’t be changed, so naturally they could tell he wasn’t from here.
"I came here to look for a friend. He seems to be deep in these mountains. I don’t know if this place is Crane Beak Mountain?" Lin Fei asked.
The loggers exchanged glances, then asked, "Your friend? How could your friend be living deep in the mountains? Wangl Besides, there’s no one in the mountains—except a lunatic!"
"A lunatic? That’s impossible. Right, this should be Crane Beak Mountain, right?" Lin Fei asked again.
The workers nodded. "This is Crane Beak Mountain, but what does your friend look like? Don’t tell me he’s that lunatic?" One of the loggers felt it was somewhat likely.
Lin Fei smiled. "My friend isn’t a lunatic."
"Suit yourself, but you’d better be careful. There really is a lunatic in the mountains. We’re heading off now." A man who looked like the foreman spoke, then led the group down the mountain.
"Sigh! With that lunatic around, it’s even hard to chop trees. Let’s just go home and eat some leftover steamed buns." The workers chatted and grumbled as they headed home.
Lin Fei was puzzled. If this was Crane Beak Mountain, Crane Mountain should be here.
He glanced around, and seeing no one, he rose straight into the air, flew up high, and looked down, taking in the scene below.
The mountain range below was rather strange, looking like a tiger’s jaws, but with the two ends clearly pointed, really like a crane’s beak. It was very similar; perhaps that was how Crane Beak Mountain got its name.
Lin Fei looked around and saw a path leading into the interior of Crane Beak Mountain. He flew inward. If Crane Mountain was here, there was an eight or nine out of ten chance he would be cultivating inside.
Finally, he reached the interior of Crane Beak Mountain. Inside was a gorge leading down underground. Beneath the sheer cliffs was clear green mountain water, with a waterfall pouring down from the heights. Lin Fei sensed the surroundings and found there wasn’t much Primordial Power.
"Crane Mountain, come out and see me!" Lin Fei shouted, channeling Primordial Power into his voice. The words boomed like thunder, echoing through all of Crane Beak Mountain.
The sound waves churned the once-calm river into ripples, but there was still no sign of Crane Mountain.
Didn’t those loggers say there was a lunatic here? How come there wasn’t even a lunatic?
Lin Fei was puzzled, but he felt things couldn’t be that simple, because it was just too quiet here.
Suddenly!
Lin Fei sensed something rushing up out of the river below. Just as that feeling arose, a black shadow shot toward him. Lin Fei looked closely and found it was a person—and that person was... Crane Mountain!
But Crane Mountain was now wreathed all over in black qi as he lunged at Lin Fei, both hands reaching to seize Lin Fei’s throat.
Lin Fei shouted coldly, "Crane Mountain! It’s me!"
However, Crane Mountain completely ignored Lin Fei. Clearly, for some unknown reason, he had already lost his reason.
With no other choice, Lin Fei grabbed one of Crane Mountain’s arms, turned his body back, and with his other hand seized Crane Mountain’s other arm, twisting both arms behind his back and subduing him.
Crane Mountain struggled madly. He was utterly crazed, and his strength was growing greater and greater. Lin Fei’s brows knit tightly. This level of power could already be called immortal—this was the power of the Three Immortals, Ancient Martial level nine!
