Chapter 227 -: 226 Departure.[2]
Chapter 227 -: 226 Departure.[2]
Whoosh!
The world twisted for a brief instant before Julius and Rosalina stepped out from the transportation current onto solid ground once again.
The scenery around them had completely changed.
Instead of the quiet elegance of the Hayes Clan Estate, they now stood inside an enormous transportation hall bustling with constant movement and noise.
Massive transportation gates lined the gigantic chamber in circular rows, each one glowing with different colors of mana as people continuously entered and exited through them.
Merchants dragged carts overflowing with goods, armored mercenaries stepped out while carrying weapons larger than common sense itself, and nobles surrounded by servants moved through the station with practiced arrogance.
The entire place resembled a giant crossroads where half the continent seemed to pass through every single hour.
Above them, countless glowing runes rotated across the ceiling like artificial stars while waves of mana pulsed steadily through the air.
Honestly, it was less of a transportation station and more of a controlled magical economic hub.
As Julius looked around casually, a man wearing a neat black uniform quickly approached from the side before bowing respectfully.
"Greetings, Lord Julius and Lady Rosalina. I hope you had a pleasant experience traveling with us."
Rosalina gave a small nod before calmly opening her spatial ring.
A delicate black purse appeared in her hand, and from it she smoothly picked out three gold coins before handing them over.
The employee accepted them immediately with the speed of someone whose survival instincts were highly developed.
"Thank you for using our transportation network," he said politely.
He was just about to leave when Julius suddenly called out.
"By the way, where’s the nearest inn from here?"
The man immediately turned back with a professional smile.
"It’s quite close, my lord. Roughly one kilometer from here, within the Day and Night Market district. There are plenty of excellent inns available there."
Then his smile somehow became even wider. "I hope the two of you enjoy your stay together."
The man remained standing there afterward very carefully.
Waiting and observing like a merchant.
He was clearly trying to determine whether he would be rewarded for indirectly supporting romance.
Unfortunately for him, Julius simply nodded.
"Thanks for the help."
The employee’s expression visibly lost some life afterward, though he still bowed professionally before leaving to greet another group arriving through a nearby gate.
Meanwhile, Julius casually walked toward the enormous exit while Rosalina followed beside him silently.
...
...
The moment they stepped outside, the atmosphere of the city struck them immediately.
The Day and Night Market was overflowing with life.
Rows upon rows of brightly decorated shops stretched across the streets beneath glowing lanterns suspended high overhead.
Merchants loudly advertised products from all three continents while crowds moved through the roads like flowing rivers.
The smell of grilled meat, perfume, alcohol, spices, and expensive incense mixed together chaotically in the air.
Somewhere nearby, two merchants were aggressively negotiating prices with expressions so intense they looked moments away from declaring war over vegetables.
Meanwhile, a suspiciously muscular old woman chased a thief through the streets using a frying pan.
A completely normal market experience.
"By the way," Rosalina suddenly spoke while looking around the crowded streets, "are we staying the night here?"
"No," Julius replied while smoothly maneuvering through the crowd without slowing down. "We’re heading directly toward the Four Stationary Continents."
Rosalina glanced toward him.
"The transportation gate the Zlycons use to move their spies can’t be used by outsiders," Julius continued calmly. "So there’s only one available method left for us."
He paused briefly. Rosalina calmly continued from where he stopped.
"To jump from the edge?"
"Yes."
Julius nodded casually, as though discussing weather instead of voluntarily throwing themselves off a continent.
"We can’t use those routes, so this is the only option left."
As they continued walking, the crowded market streets gradually opened into a massive empty platform near the outer edge of the continent.
Far beyond the stone railings, the world itself seemed to open endlessly.
The floating continents existed like three plates of different shapes placed together.
The Three Great Continents floated high in the heavens while far below, hidden beneath enormous clouds and endless atmospheric currents, rested the Four Stationary Continents.
And somewhere impossibly high above everything....there was only one sun.
How any of this worked was honestly beyond Julius.
At some point, he had simply accepted that the world operated on mysterious ancient nonsense and stopped questioning it for the sake of his mental health.
After all, he was terrible at studying.
"So what’s the plan?" Rosalina asked after a brief silence.
Instead of answering immediately, Julius gestured upward.
Rosalina understood instantly. The next moment both of them lifted off the ground.
Boom!
Wind exploded beneath their feet as they shot into the sky like streaks of black light before rushing toward the distant edge of the continent.
The surrounding clouds tore apart violently from their speed.
Since reaching the Void Core Stage, their flight speed had increased far beyond what ordinary spell casters could follow with their eyes.
Rosalina caught up beside him almost effortlessly.
"You see," Julius began while flying beside her through the sky, "I already sent Alfred ahead of us."
Rosalina blinked.
"Huh?"
A faint crease appeared between her brows as she looked toward Julius while flying beside him through the clouds.
"When did you even send him? Didn’t he return after...."
She suddenly stopped mid-sentence.
Something clicked in her mind.
Now that she thought about it carefully...she had not seen Alfred anywhere near Julius for the past several months.
The realization felt strange.
Ever since Julius was little, Alfred had practically existed beside him like an overly responsible shadow. Rosalina still vaguely remembered the first noble gathering where she had met Julius years ago.
At the time, Alfred had been desperately running after him across the ballroom while carrying a tray full of sweets.
Meanwhile, Julius had somehow attempted to climb a decorative statue for reasons nobody understood.
Some things truly never changed.
Rosalina fell silent afterward and waited for him to continue.
Meanwhile, Julius spoke again after noticing she had finished processing the shock.
"I sent him shortly after I regained consciousness," he explained calmly. "Right now he’s already preparing a base for us there."
The wind roared around them as both continued flying farther away from Saint Brian City.
The massive commercial capital slowly shrank behind them while the surrounding scenery gradually transformed into endless skies filled with drifting clouds and floating mountain ranges suspended between currents of mana.
"This way," Julius continued, "through the connections he already established, we can settle in without too many difficulties."
Rosalina nodded slightly.
Far ahead in the distance, the world itself seemed to end.
The edge.
Even from this far away, the sight carried an indescribable feeling.
The floating continent simply... stopped.
Beyond it existed only clouds, endless atmosphere, and the vast hollow world separating the upper continents from the Four Stationary Continents below.
As Rosalina stared toward that distant boundary, Julius’ voice echoed again through the wind.
"Once we arrive there, we’ll need to create names for ourselves."
He suddenly accelerated.
Boom!
A burst of air exploded behind him as he instantly appeared near the edge of the continent itself.
Rosalina followed immediately afterward.
The edge resembled the cliff of an enormous mountain. Jagged black stone stretched beneath their feet while violent currents of wind howled endlessly upward from below.
And beneath the cliff...only clouds could be seen.
An endless white sea swallowing the world below completely.
Julius slowly extended his hand toward her.
Rosalina looked at it briefly before holding it tightly without hesitation.
"Make sure you don’t let go," Julius warned while tightening his grip slightly. "The atmospheric currents below are strong enough to separate us instantly."
The wind violently pulled against their clothes and hair as both stood at the very edge of the continent.
"I’ll explain the rest later," Julius continued before taking a deep breath.
Despite his calm expression, excitement was impossible to completely hide from his eyes. This would be his first time seeing the Four Stationary Continents.
The hidden lands beneath the world....and honestly...It would have been a complete lie to say he was not excited.
Beside him, Rosalina felt the same anticipation quietly rising within herself.
The unknown always carried danger but it also carried freedom.
Julius inhaled deeply one last time before grinning.
"Alright..."
The next moment...he stepped forward directly into the void while dragging Rosalina along with him.
"Let’s jump!"
