Chapter 726: Missing
Chapter 726: Missing
Every death reduced the number of soldiers available for the inevitable war against the superior beings.
Silas folded his arms. "Don’t worry."
A dangerous glint appeared in his eyes.
"The moment we discover their exact location, we’ll launch an ambush."
Ivy nodded once more.
Then a faint chuckle escaped her lips.
Her thoughts drifted toward Jerry and Haku.
Officially, both of them were dead.
However, the temporal storage had given her an unexpected piece of information.
A very valuable piece of information.
Jerry and Haku could become mediums.
And she fully intended to use them.
For Alana.
What Alana didn’t know was that Ivy had witnessed far more than she was supposed to that day.
Meanwhile, Tammy received another troubling report.
Although bomb detonations were occurring across the country, neither Jerry nor Haku had returned.
The information immediately placed her in a foul mood.
After all, both Jerry and Haku were among the more capable members of her team.
Looking around the conference room, Tammy spoke coldly.
"Since Jerry and Haku have been missing for such a long time, only two possibilities remain."
Everyone immediately focused on her.
Tammy raised one finger. "First, they have betrayed us and fled."
The moment those words left her mouth, Barrett immediately stood up.
"That’s impossible!"
His voice echoed throughout the room.
"Haku isn’t that kind of person."
In truth, both Haku and Barrett belonged to the Hybrid Faction.
Although they were hybrids, they had not originated from Earth. Because of that, their status was considerably higher than ordinary Earth hybrids.
Barrett had known Haku for years.
Hearing someone accuse Haku of betrayal was something he simply could not tolerate.
However, Tammy ignored him entirely.
She calmly raised a second finger.
"The second possibility is that both of them ended up in Ivy’s hands."
Several expressions turned grim.
Nobody liked that possibility.
Yet strangely enough, none of them considered death.
After all, Ivy had previously captured Ferror, Jeff, Siya, Ariana, and Paris.
Even then, none of them had died.
Furthermore, all five possessed life signatures connected to monitoring devices.
As long as the devices remained active, they could confirm whether someone was alive.
That was why everyone assumed Jerry and Haku were still alive somewhere.
At least, they had believed so.
Until Coco suddenly checked the life-monitoring device.
Her eyes widened. Her hands began trembling.
Everyone immediately noticed. Tammy frowned. "What happened?"
Coco slowly lifted her head. Her lips trembled. "Jerry and Haku are dead."
She swallowed hard before continuing.
"No..."
Her voice cracked. "Three of them are dead. Forrero is dead too."
The moment those words were spoken, every expression changed.
Tammy’s eyes widened in disbelief.
She immediately snatched the device and examined it herself.
The life signatures were gone. For several seconds, nobody spoke.
Tammy’s hands trembled slightly. Then she abruptly threw the device back toward Coco.
"How is this possible?"
Her voice was filled with frustration. "Why is everything going in the wrong direction?"
For the first time in a very long while, genuine uncertainty appeared in Tammy’s eyes.
Two active superior beings had disappeared. Slowly, a terrifying thought emerged in her mind.
’Just how powerful has Ivy become?’
After all, they had previously sent her a message regarding Silas being healed.
As long as Ivy handed over Moona and Maxi, negotiations could begin.
Yet they never received any response.
What shocked them even more was what happened afterward.
By the next day, Silas had completely recovered.
When they observed from afar, he appeared perfectly healthy.
Not even a trace of his previous injuries remained.
Although Ivy herself remained hidden inside the house, one thing was undeniable.
Silas had been healed completely.
And that fact deeply disturbed them.
According to all of their previous analyses, there should only have been six hybrids capable of performing such miraculous healing.
If that was truly the case, then another question immediately emerged.
Why had Silas been healed?
According to all of their information, there should not have been anyone capable of healing his injuries to that extent.
A disturbing thought surfaced in their minds.
’Could there be another superior being hidden among the humans? And could that superior being possess healing abilities?’
The moment that possibility appeared, countless others followed.
One possibility became ten. Ten possibilities became a hundred.
The more they thought about it, the more uneasy they became.
As time passed, Tammy’s mood continued to worsen.
Her frustration grew with every passing second.
The lights overhead began flickering erratically. Crack.
Tiny arcs of energy danced across the walls.
Finally, she turned toward Nanami.
"What about those human puppets?"
Her voice was dangerously cold.
"I told you to send them as a distraction."
Nanami remained calm despite the pressure radiating throughout the room.
"Those human puppets couldn’t even move toward the Silvy Base."
His expression remained indifferent.
"It’s as though some invisible barrier is preventing them from entering."
The moment those words left his mouth, Tammy’s restraint shattered.
Boom!
A terrifying wave of pressure exploded from her body. Several chairs toppled over.
Everyone present felt a sharp pain erupt inside their minds, as though invisible needles were being driven directly into their skulls.
Barrett even grabbed his head in pain.
For a brief moment, it looked as though a tornado had appeared inside the conference room.
Yet amidst all the chaos, Nanami remained seated.
Although he could feel the tingling pain spreading through his mind, his expression never changed.
Only one thought existed in his heart.
’Tammy isn’t fit to lead.’
Looking directly at her, he spoke calmly. "Tammy, stop."
The moment those words reached her ears, it was as if she had been awakened from a nightmare.
Her body stiffened. The violent energy surrounding her gradually faded.
She stared at Nanami. Nanami met her gaze without fear.
"Is this how you’re planning to lead us?"
Tammy’s expression darkened. Her teeth clenched tightly. "I know what I’m doing."
Nanami chuckled softly. "Do you?"
His voice carried neither mockery nor anger. It carried disappointment.
"Rather than directing your anger toward the real problem, you’re lashing out at everyone around you."
